Changes to the House

The Robinson House was lived in by the family from about 1840 until 1936, when they donated the land to the National Park Service.

The house became the victim of arson in 1993. Park officials and family members were faced with two choices: stabilize the still-standing parts of the house and rebuild the portions that were destroyed by the fire, or tear down the remaining structure and conduct archeological and architectural studies of the material remains.

Working together, park officials and family members decided to proceed with the archeological research. Though the home is no longer present on the Battlefield, this exhibit will show you what the house was like over the course of the nearly 100 years when the Robinsons lived there.
