About the Project

"Battleground America" is broken down into six exhibits about the Robinsons - Meet the Robinsons, Robinson Farm, War Comes to Robinson House, Starting Again: Life After the Civil War, Africanisms, and Changes to the House. Each of these exhibits and the items within them are meant to show African American lived experiences and survival strategies.

Additionally, there are three other exhibits meant to give broader context about the Civil War and the Battles of Manassas specifically - A House Divided, A Peculiar Institution, and Why Manassas?

This site was create as a part of a final project for History 796: Digital Public History, a PhD course at George Mason University.
